Homemade Orange Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls can be an easy breakfast!

Ingredients:
Dough:
2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons warm water (110° to 115°)
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon orange extract
Zest of one orange
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
3 to 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Filling:
1 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons cinnamon
5 Tablespoons butter

Glaze:
1-1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon orange extract (or vanilla)
1/4 cup milk

In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add oil and sugar. Let stand for about 5 minutes. Add egg, salt, extract, zest, and enough flour to form a soft dough. Knead dough for 2-3 minutes. On floured surface, roll dough into a rectangle trying to make edges even. Do not allow dough to rise.

Mix sugar and cinnamon for filling. Cut in butter until filling has only small lumps. (You could add some nuts into the mixture, if you would like!) Evenly spread mixture over dough.

Slowly roll dough into a log starting with long side of rectangle. Slice log into 1-1 1/2 inch rolls. Place rolls on greased pan 2 inches apart. Cover and let rise for 10-15 minutes in warm place. Bake at 425 for 8-12 minutes, until golden brown.

Mix all of glaze ingredients smooth with no lumps. (You can add food coloring if you would like. I split the glaze and added orange to some and made the rest vanilla with no color.) Glaze rolls and Enjoy!
